According to the forecast, temperatures continue to remain very high in much of the territory, ranging still around 40 °C in areas of Madrid, the southern plateau, the Basque Country, the Ebro valley and the Guadalquivir valley. The DANA system is expected to cause a drop of more than 6 °C in Galicia, as it begins to be absorbed by the jet stream on Wednesday, giving way to cooler air masses across the peninsula.
In addition, the forecast predicts that skies will be mostly clear and high clouds will dominate throughout the day, with low morning clouds approaching the northwest coast and Tarragona. Clouds and storm showers will develop mainly in the mountains of the central northern part of the country.
The heat will begin to subside on Thursday, with a temperature drop of more than 3 °C expected in the western half of the peninsula. Minimum and maximum temperatures will fall significantly, especially in the western and southern Peninsular areas. The highest decrease will be observed in Galicia, where temperatures may drop by more than 6 °C. The temperatures will fall below 35 °C in almost all regions, except in the Ebro valley, the eastern side, the Balearic Islands, and the southern plateau.
On Friday, the situation will remain largely the same, with maximum temperatures almost identical to those of Thursday. However, the high-pressure system will return over the weekend, causing the temperatures to rise again.
